California Valedictorian Facing Deportation
// June 4th, 2008 // Immigration
What are Arthur’s options?
If he evades the law and stays, he would not qualify under the DREAM Act as he has a final deportation order. However, he can benefit from AB-540 and attend UC Davis paying only instate-tuition.
At this point in time, Arthur has not triggered any ban from entering the United States since he is under 18. He can choose to deport to Armenia and apply for a student visa. But the chances of an approval would be slim since he would have to demonstrate strong ties to Armenia and no evidence of staying here indefinately. Definitely not a pretty picture.
At this point, a private bill is the best option for Arthur Mkoyan and family.

what if he worked hard and didn’t get good grades?
That “if” is out of question at this point buddy. He is graduating within 2 weeks.
(Btw-The reverse is also true. People who don’t work hard but continue to get by with 4.0 GPA’s i.e. me during my MA program)…It doesn’t really matter either way, intellectual capital is capital with or without hard work. And we are deporting our capital / intellectual property after investing in it through K-12.
so we don’t deport illegal aliens who commit felony but are deporting someone who can contribute to our society and follows the law.. something is really wrong here!
Spelling of “indefinately. Definately” is definitely not 4.0. I’m sure that Arthur could do better, one indication that he should stay. I wonder what kind of command of the English language is possessed by the immigration people.
RJ – Do you have anything of relevance or important to say? Are you trying to make a point?
P.S. Arthur is an immigrant and our command of English is much better than that of nativists as proven on many occasions.
“Immigration people?”
LOL.
