Bainimarama curtails freedom of the press in Fiji.
SUVA: The Australian publisher of the Fiji Times is being deported – the second such move taken by the interim government of Commodore Frank Bainimarama in eight months.
The Fiji Times website said Rex Gardner was likely to be put on a flight to Sydney today. It said the expulsion followed a High Court ruling that found the News Limited publication in contempt of court for publishing a letter criticising the court’s validation of the December, 2006, military coup.
