Organizing for America Ad Outreach to Spanish-Speaking Voters Uninspiring

The Obama Administration thinks they can take the Latino vote for granted in the November elections.

Yesterday, Organizing for America released the following Spanish-language ad asking Latinos for their votes in the upcoming elections with no mention of any issue, let alone Arizona and immigration reform.

Not all Latinos consider immigration reform their main priority, but a November poll does show that 62% of Latinos think it is either extremely or very important to do immigration reform before the midterm elections. If not, the Democrats should expect lower voter turnout at the polls.

President Barack Obama and the Democrat Congress have done next to nothing for Latino communities besides appointing a record number of Hispanics to the cabinet and Sonia Sotomayor as Supreme Court Justice. They have kept the same old Bush-era enforcement policies like 287 (g) and Secure Communities that continue to tear immigrant families apart, and set record-high deportations. Now they are asking for a chance to reconnect?

When it comes to Latinos, the Democrat mantra seems to be “Don’t give them any policies and hope for change, but expect their support anyway.” It’s just not going to fly anymore. Rep. Luis Gutierrez delivered a warning last month that the Democrats may just lose Latinos at the polls this election. OFA and the Obama Administration ignore that warning at their peril.
